Paso Pacifico, a biodiversity conservation organization based in Venture California, recently began working with Nicaraguan farmers to help them save the stingless honey bees, whos populations are on the wane.
In celebration of Housing America Month, more than a dozen local organizations recently set up shop for the first-ever Housing Santa Barbara Day. Organized by the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara, the goal was to provide more information on housing options, supportive services, and other home purchasing programs.
Each year, HSB recognizes the outstanding organizations and individuals who continue to play an important role in service to those in our community and/or support the organization’s mission of providing care to anyone experiencing the impact of serious illness or grieving the death of a loved one. The luncheon raised approximately $150,000 to support HSB’s programs.
More than 1,100 volunteers picked up paintbrushes, shovels and whatever other tools they needed to improve and beautify the community Sept. 15 during United Way of Santa Barbara County’s (UWSBC) 27th Annual Day of Caring.
Thanks to a generous donation from the local branch of Union Bank, the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara (HACSB) and its nonprofit affiliate 2nd Story Associates recently presented approximately 400 school-age children with backpacks and supplies for the coming school year.
