With a donation of $50.000 from FedEx, Direct Relief International equipped the Ventura County Medical Reserve Corps with 125 customized emergency backpacks. These backpacks were stocked with emergency medical supplies and equipment that enable medical personnel to quickly respond in case of an emergency such as natural catastrophe. The California Emergency Medical Services Authority has adopted Direct Relief Med-Packs as the California standard and is currently expanding the program with the generous support of FedEx. This type of joint effort, such as the partnership between Federal Express and non-governmental organizations like Direct Relief International, fill in the gap when State and government due to financial constrains are unable to provide the type of emergency preparedness that is necessary.
