ParsonsHousePrestonHollowParsons House Preston Hollow, Comfort Keepers and Sharing Life Community Outreach lead donation drive through October 31st

Dallas, TX, October 31, 2013 – At Parsons House Preston Hollow, assisted living and memory care community, residents have been busy collecting a bounty of medical equipment to donate to local seniors in need. Items and equipment needed include those not easily provided by Medicare such as: bathroom items; shower benches; rollator walkers; and wheelchairs in new or in good and safe working condition. These items will be donated to or lent out temporarily, to best fit the recipient’s needs. Donations may be dropped off now through October 31st between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. at Parsons House Preston Hollow, 4205 W. Northwest Highway in Dallas. Parsons House is leading the donation drive and partners Comfort Keepers and Sharing Life Community Outreach will distribute the donations.

“There are so many people that are unable to afford medical equipment like wheelchairs and walkers, even a basic walker that might cost $90, which is an astronomical cost for some,” said Lori Nesler, Certified Senior Advisor and Owner of Comfort Keepers In-Home Care of Dallas. “Even clientele on Medicare sometimes can’t afford their deductible – and to go without equipment is to put themselves in jeopardy. Our purpose is to reuse the equipment – keeping it out of our landfills, and put it back into our community.”

Sharing Life Community Outreach has partnered with Comfort Keepers to collect and distribute unused medical equipment to those in need. A tax receipt can be provided to donors upon request.

“Our residents and partners are really stepping up to make this drive successful to help other seniors stay safe, healthy and active,” said Nicol Smith, Executive Director, Parsons House Preston Hollow.  “Parsons House is honored to be part of a community that so generously helps our neighbors in need.”

Donations will be accepted daily through October 31st at Parsons House Preston Hollow, 4205 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas. For questions about donations, please call (214) 357-7900.
