December 1, 2010, Santa Barbara, CA—Talented young singer Allison Lewis, winner of the inaugural 2010 Santa Barbara Teen Idol competition, will perform at Hospice of Santa Barbara’s annual Light Up a Life ceremonies this year.
Each year in December, families and friends gather for Light Up A Life in Goleta, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria for ceremonies celebrating the lives and joy of remembrance of our loved ones.
Lewis will be the featured soloist at both the Goleta and Santa Barbara ceremonies. Also, back by popular demand in Goleta will be the Dos Pueblos Jazz Choir. Performing at the Sunday Santa Barbara ceremony for the first time will be the Santa Barbara High School Madrigal Singers, of which Lewis is a member. Popular Santa Barbara vocalist Lois Mahalia and perennial favorite Winnie Scarcia will both perform at this year’s Light Up a Life in Carpinteria.
“We are proud to welcome Allison Lewis and the Santa Barbara Madrigal Singers to their first Light Up a Life performances,” said Steve Jacobsen, executive director of Hospice of Santa Barbara. “Having such a large youthful presence at this year’s events is sure to make for exciting performances.”
Lewis, a junior at Santa Barbara High School, feels a personal connection to the Light Up a Life ceremonies through the experience of a close friend who dealt with loss at a young age, like many children and teens in the community.
