Women’s Economic Ventures will offer a free orientation from 6 to 7 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 15 in Thousand Oaks.

The local nonprofit helps entrepreneurs start or expand businesses through training, loans and other resources.

WEV also offers the following small business training programs:

Self-employment Training: This 14-week program provides guidance on how to start, operate or expand a business.

Topics include finances, marketing and sales, public relations and advertising, legal and insurance issues, record keeping and how to write a business plan.

The program is offered in both English and Spanish. Participants are required to attend the orientation workshop.

Business Plan Intensive: This accelerated, six-week business plan course is designed for business professionals who need access to capital quickly. The course includes an emphasis on financial intelligence and inte- grated marketing techniques and a viability study.
